International Baccalaureate Program
Welcome to Our International Baccalaureate Program at Winston Churchill Middle School!
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) at Churchill Middle School helps students in grades 6–8 connect their learning across subjects while developing important life skills such as communication, collaboration, and critical thinking. In addition to academic growth, students practice the IB Learner Profile traits—such as being open-minded, caring, and reflective—which support them in becoming well-rounded individuals. To meet students' needs, we offer two unique pathways—Ambassador and Diplomat. No matter which pathway they choose, all students participate in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Along with a core curriculum, through our diverse pathways, students are involved in community service, can access high school level courses in a second language and mathematics, and can participate in visual and performing arts.
Winston Churchill Middle School provides the initial IBMYP years: grades 6 through 8, which continues, if the student chooses, at Mira Loma High School for grades 9 and 10. Both Winston Churchill and Mira Loma’s IB coordinators, teacher and staff provide ample support to facilitate the IBMYP’s student’s transition from middle to high school, including an 8th grade group visitation day to the Mira Loma campus.
If you think the Winston Churchill Middle School IB program would be the right fit for your child please visit the San Juan Unified District website for more information about to enroll your child for the upcoming school year. Visit SJUSD Accelerated Programs here.
